Ocado’s strategic appointment of a seasoned professional from the renowned Tesco Grocery division. As the retail landscape grows more competitive, Ocado has chosen to bring on board a new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) with a wealth of experience and insights.
Ocado, the online grocer, has named Amit Chitnis, formerly the grocery category director at Tesco, as its new chief commercial officer. Chitnis will succeed Rose Price, the interim CCO, who is set to retire at the end of 2023.
Rose Price has been with Ocado for over 12 years, previously serving as the buying director. Since September 2022, she has been holding the role of interim CCO. Meanwhile, Amit Chitnis has an extensive background in the retail industry. He initially joined Tesco in 2014 as the head of the group strategy and has since taken on various roles within the company, including head of retail operations for their convenience stores in west London and category head for cooking ingredients and global grocery. In May 2022, Chitnis was appointed as the grocery category director, following his position as the director of trading at Tesco subsidiary Booker Wholesale in 2020.
Ocado officially announced Amit Chitnis’s appointment on Linkedin, expressing their excitement to have him join the team later this year. They highlighted his extensive experience in the retail and grocery sector and mentioned that Chitnis would lead the commercial team, taking over from Rose Price upon her retirement at the end of the year.
In addition to the new CCO, Ocado also recently appointed Mat Ankers, the former interim CFO of Pepco Group, as their new chief financial officer. Ankers will oversee finance, operations, IT, and insights within the business.
